What we believe

Seoul Union Church is an independent, English-speaking, non-denominational, Bible believing, God honoring, evangelical church.

Statement of Faith

“We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Apostle’s Creed

“I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy Christian church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.“

Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

We believe that any person can be forgiven their sins if they have a sincere and repentant heart, believe that Jesus is the Son of God; that He died on the cross, rose from the dead, and lives eternally.

If you would like to begin a life of faith in Christ, we offer this prayer as a guide to help you ask for forgiveness and accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.

“Dear God, I am a sinner, and am sorry for my sins. I ask your forgiveness.
I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He died on the cross for my sins, and that He has arisen from the dead, and lives forever more. You said in your Word, that if I confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and believe that you raised Him from the dead, I would be saved from the penalty of my sin, which would cause separation from you. Right now I desire to follow Jesus. I believe that you raised Jesus from the dead and I accept Him as my own personal Savior. Thank you for your grace and forgiveness. Lead me now and guide me by your Holy Spirit that may bring glory and honor to you. Thank you for hearing my prayer. I offer it in the name of Jesus. Amen.”

If you offered this to God with sincerity, 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”We encourage you to let us know that you just made a decision to follow Jesus. Our greatest desire is to help you now grow in relationship with God.

“Romans Road” of Salvation

Everyone needs salvation because we have all sinned.

Romans 3:10-12, and 23As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.” … For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

The penalty (or consequence) of sin is death.

Romans 6:23For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Jesus died for our sins. He paid the price for our death.

Romans 5:8But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

We receive salvation and eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.

Romans 10:9-10, and 13If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved … For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Salvation through Jesus Christ brings us into a relationship of peace with God.

Romans 5:1Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.
Romans 8:1So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.
Romans 8:38-39And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
