At Seoul Union Church, it is our goal to be a community deeply committed to one another. We desire to be a people of passion and purpose who are focused in all that we say and do. It is our hope that those who come into our community will experience the warmth of acceptance and encouragement, so that coming to Seoul Union Church will feel like coming home. Although our services may appear casual in nature, the attitude with which we approach God in worship is far from casual.

We believe that encountering the God of the universe is a serious yet joyous privilege. At Seoul Union, you will find people from all walks of life whose lives have been transformed by discovering and deepening a relationship with their Creator through Jesus Christ. At Seoul Union, we are committed to helping people find joy and fulfillment in the only thing in this world that can truly satisfy: a personal relationship with the person of God Himself. The more we delight in God as our most valuable treasure, the more complete our lives will become.




Our character as a church is defined by our core distinctions:



1. We are International
We are composed of people from many different parts of the world and from diverse cultures,
yet we are united in our love for God and his people.


2. We are Christ centered
The Person and Work of Jesus Christ, as portrayed and taught in the Bible, is at the center of who we are and what we do.


3. We are Evangelical
We hold to the historic roots of evangelical Christianity and in this respect, see it as our purpose to worship God with our whole hearts and to witness to those of our neighbors who don't yet know Christ. If the centrality of God's word above all other authorities is a key aspect of your faith, Seoul Union Church may be the place for you.


4. We are an English-speaking church
Seoul Union Church was founded and exists in order to provide members of the expatriate community
in Seoul with a place to enjoy fellowship and worship in the English language.


5. We are Welcoming
We strive to be welcoming and friendly to all who come. Many describe the church as an oasis amid the hustle and bustle of life in Seoul. We provide an excellent starting point for beginning new friendships and sharing hospitality.

We appreciate the richness of our varied denominational backgrounds and find our unity in the foundations of Scripture and traditional biblical Christianity.

In our worship services we endeavor to incorporate and blend the best elements of traditional and contemporary styles. So, whether you are from a charismatic or liturgical background, you will find a sense of belonging and can feel at home in worship at Seoul Union Church.


8. We are Disciplers
A key aspect of our life together as God's people is growing into maturity in Christ. To this end, we have challenging and enjoyable programs in our Sunday services, children's ministries, and adult classes that follow the morning service.


9. We are uniquely called
Since its inception by some of the first Protestant missionaries to Korea over a hundred years ago, Seoul Union has felt called by God to minister to the spiritual needs of the foreign community in Korea. This call has remained clear up to the present as indicated in the church Constitution.
